Bye Bye Binky

I'm happy to report that Grace and Liliana have successfully completed the binky detox program. They have been binky free since Saturday night. It's taking them longer to fall asleep now but it's getting better each day. And like most things, it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. Their binkies had been confined to the cribs for naps and nighttime for almost a year now, and oh how they loved the "b" as they affectionately called it. Starting at 11 months Grace would say "beeeee" in the sweetest and happiest voice when she would spot it waiting for her in her crib. Lately, Lily liked to play in her crib for up to an hour, even in the middle of the day, just so she could get her "b" and have some extra time with it. So on a whim I decided it was time to say goodbye. Here's a look back at some special times shared with the "b".

Bean Lover and Budding Artist

Lily has demonstrated a love for two things lately.
1) Refried beans

2) Drawing on the wall with crayons

Her love of beans she clearly acquired from her dad but the other one we're not so sure. Uncle Taylor??

Auntie C

Happy Birthday Auntie C!
We love you!!

13.1 Miles!

Ty and I just completed the Carlsbad Half-Marathon on Sunday with a time of 1:54. Somehow we finished with the same exact time as when we ran a half-marathon a few years back. It's hard not to compare the two experiences. Here were my two reactions post-race:

Half-marathon #1 in 2005 - "That wasn't bad at all. I could have kept running. I'd love to do a marathon someday.

Half-marathon #2 on Sunday - "I almost died at mile 11. I am NEVER doing a full marathon."

Training for this one was a bit more challenging with two kids in the mix. We got these medals (in picture) for the girls to play with for completing the race. I guess the girls deserve the medals for enduring six mile rides in the jogging stroller on some pretty cold days in December. They think the medals are cameras and run around saying, "Cheese" and "Smile."

Big Sis

Grace is fulfilling her role of big sister quite well lately. She's always showered Lily with hugs and now she's begun trying to lift her off the ground. This morning she fed Lily a piece of bagel while saying, "Big piece." That's something I often say to the girls to entice them to eat something. I love hearing her say, "Good morning Lily." Or "Come here Lily." It sounds even cuter in person, trust me...
